Is our system broken?
I don’t know about you, but I think so. Many other professionals also do. My story is like many others’ in that when there is a “problem” (i.e., something out of balance), the “normal” way of doing things is disjointed. I mean, have you ever thought about the fact that your health insurance does NOT include your dental and vision, yet all parts impact one another?!
When your eyes are not focusing properly, there may be a blood sugar issue. There might be other symptoms and clues in the body as to what is going on in the eyes. Or the mouth. Each tooth is linked to areas of the body (chakras, meridians and body systems!) so if the tooth is experiencing an issue, that is likely to be elsewhere in the body. Super fascinating!
Then, we can look at EMOTIONS. As a therapist, this part if my favorite! All the history and links of how specific emotions are lodged into the tissues or organs has shown to be very true for me and all the clients that I work with! What an important message when helping people navigate their health… the emotions REALLY do matter in the mind-body-soul connection.
As a Christian, I also look at the spiritual. There are often ties spiritually that impact us, the same as emotions. Again, super fascinating and insightful when we can look at all these links to see what is creating imbalance in the body!
As far as the body is concerned, of course we have imbalanced systems. These systems become imbalanced due to a variety of reasons. Stress. Poor diet. Injury. Add in the emotions, spiritual and you have a concoction on mystery for modern medicine!
Recently, I listened to a podcast in which Dr. John Abramson, a 25-year Harvard instructor of health care policies. He is also the author of Sickening: How Big Pharma Broke American Health Care and What We Can Do To Repair it and Overdo$ed in America: The Broken Promise of American Medicine. In his books, he provides insight on how greed has taken over the healthcare system and how we can work towards reform. In the podcast that I listened to, Dr. Abramson discusses the prescription drug industry, the flaws in current medical research data, political influence of our healthcare system and more!
Pick a system. Medical. Mental Health. Church. Government. Financial. The list goes on… Pick one! They are all broken…
I guess it makes sense, living in a broken world. But, we have to learn how to do better! We have the knowledge and resources but it takes some work to break down what we thought we knew to relearn how to live better, the way God intended!
What do you think about the health care system here in the U. S.? I would love to hear your thoughts!.
